Inspiration, the unknown and our creative potential...

My name is Florian Mesaritsch. I am an artist from Styria and moved to Vienna 2 years ago to find my new home. In 2017 I decided to change my life to have more time for the creative process and life and to be less in my comfort zone.

I sold my company, left my apartment and my belongings behind to travel. I was on some small islands in the Caribbean. At first it felt very unusual. I wanted to live in a completely different environment in the middle of the sea, but soon I found what I was... Looking for focus to delve deeper into my art journey. My time in the Caribbean lasted 5 years and I enjoyed a simple but productive life by the sea.

Living without too many modern distractions gave me the freedom to explore my creativity. When I started my journey, I didn't know what I was doing or what to expect. I followed a weak idea that drove me further and further into the unknown.

This is how most of my pictures are created. I usually just have a vague idea of what I want to paint and let the creativity flow, trusting that something will come to me through the process. Sometimes it's scary not knowing what to do. The unknown presents great challenges and inspiring moments can rarely be planned.

Doubts and fears are exactly what drives me to develop as a person. To learn, to explore, to question everything I know so far. To simply stay at the easel in challenging times.

The feeling of being stuck and moments of almost instantaneous inspiration burst through me like a brilliant light. There is a miraculous nature to when and how these moments come and that is what makes it so exciting. The great reward is something new appearing on the screen that excites and surprises me so often. This is the joy of creating that I believe we as humans are deeply searching for. I try to share this joy with my art. Because art is such a big help in life. We all experience difficult moments when we just need something positive to help us move forward. For me it means art, music, books, theater and all forms of culture.

We exist to help people realize their creative potential and not shy away from life. There will always be challenges. Since humans made art before they invented writing, I feel that paintings have the power to speak to a deeper part of ourselves without the mind necessarily being involved.

In times of external crisis, when our old ways of thinking may no longer serve us, we can. If you decide to be open and allow new perspectives, you will have the opportunity to overcome all hurdles.

Let's overcome these blockages and find something fruitful and creative within ourselves. By listening. Even by trusting our inner compass, new ideas can open up that lead to new paths that serve more of our innate power and potential.
